For the fifth consecutive year The Norwegian Public Roads Administration, Norwegian Communications Authority, Norwegian Defense Research Establishment, Norwegian Metrology Service, Norwegian Space Agency, The Norwegian Mapping Authority, Avinor and Testnor will be organizing Jammertest on Andøya, Norway.

The event takes place from Monday, September 14th to Friday, September 18th. 

Due to high demand, there will be an application process, and selected participants will be invited to attend. The partners of the Jammertest reserve the right to select participants based on Norwegian national interest and needs. Please note that this application pertains to the entire organization and is not individual. This means that each organization only needs to submit one application.  

Please prepare the necessary information for the application:  

• Basic info about your company/organization (company address, VAT-number/organization number, country/countries of ultimate ownership). 
• A preliminary list of individuals (name/company/job title) you wish to bring to Jammertest. 
• The type of GNSS application that is of main interest (timing, maritime, aviation, automotive, surveying, military, other).  
• Your preferred type of test participation 

Participant fee 

The participant fee is:  

• EUR 1500 per normal Jammertest participant.  
• EUR 150 per academia participant.  
• For aircrafts, ships and other large vehicles, the fee will be considered on a case-by-case basis.   

The prices include VAT.

So we have reached the end of yet another successful jammertest. And what a week it has been. We have laughed, we have jammed, we have spoofed and gotten wet, but most of all; we have met new and old friends.

We believe jammertest is not just unique for the testing being done here, but the real uniqueness comes form the amazing community that it has fostered. A community of smart, dedicated, funny and warm people from around the world. A community that shares knowledge, jokes and cables/connectors, even with companies that compete in the market.

By the way, if you have left anything behind in your hurry to get back home please reach out. Either that, or you can probably find it on our ebay store.

But before we all forget; here some bulletpoints for the MANDATORY morning briefings that I expect you all to start doing with you family when you get home:

• Never run with scissors!
• Wait 15 minutes after eating before taking a swim.
• Ipads are not qualified babysitters.
• Wear sunscreen.
• And let's not forget: wear your high visibility clothing with pride.

Jammertest 2025, en GNSS-interferens-feltøvelse, vil i hovedsak foregå i områdene mellom Bleik og Nordmela på Andøya i den oppgitte perioden, med en stasjonær jammer med høy effekt og med mobile jammere med mye lavere effekt.

Det vil også bli gjennomført meaconing og spoofing (av både tid og posisjon), men med lavere effekt enn jammingen. Maksimalt utstrålt effekt er 200 W, men det aller meste av testene vil bli gjennomført med mye lavere effekt. Flesteparten av testene vil bli gjennomført langs fylkesvei 7702, fra krysset mellom Nordmelaveien (FV7702) og Oklveien (69.1441N, 15.7585 Ø) i sør, til Bleik kirkegård i nord (69.2826 N, 15.9906 Ø). 

Det gjennomføres tester på Andenes flyplass (69.3048 N, 16.1303 Ø), på torsdag 18.09, vanlig rutetrafikk skal ikke forhindres.

I løpet av dagene tirsdag 16. september til torsdag 18. september vil det være noe lokal jamming om bord på en ferge som i hovedsak vil være utenfor Bleiksøya.

Tillatelsen som er blitt gitt er for frekvensområdene 1150-1300 MHz og 1545-1620 MHz, noe som betyr at alle GNSS-tjenester vil bli påvirket.

The countdown has begun for Jammertest 2025—where the world’s most advanced positioning and navigation systems face real-world challenges like jamming, spoofing, and meaconing. This year, the event has drawn record-high interest - a powerful testament to the growing need for resilient PNT systems in modern society. 
 
This unique collaborative event brings together system owners, suppliers, and end-users to push systems to their limits and uncover vulnerabilities under controlled yet challenging conditions—from sensor fusion to RF interference countermeasures. By stress-testing technology in this way, we’re collectively strengthening the resilience of critical systems. 

Beyond the technical insights, Jammertest offers invaluable opportunities to connect across sectors — building relationships, sharing knowledge, and sparking collaborations that extend well beyond the test week.

Security for PNT 
Our dependency on satellite technology is higher than ever before. Critical infrastructure and essential services are reliant on precise position, navigation and time accuracy. Unfortunately, at the same time as our dependency has increased, so has the occurrence of jamming and spoofing attacks. However, ongoing research in a unique collaborative event offers promising solutions to improve our security. 

The Jammertest is a collaborative effort to strengthen digital infrastructure and protect the critical services that support our modern societies. Jammertest is organized by the Norwegian Public Roads Administration, Norwegian Communications Authority, Norwegian Defence Research Establishment, Norwegian Metrology Service, Norwegian Space Agency, Norwegian Mapping Authority, Avinor and Testnor, with the aim of advancing Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) security. 

A Unique Location for Robustness Testing 
At Jammertest, participants are given the opportunity to subject their systems and products to thorough examination. System owners, suppliers and end-users are gathered to explore vulnerabilities. We do this in our three unique test areas, both through simple and sophisticated jamming and spoofing. During the 2024 test week, over 250 comprehensive tests were conducted, exploring various aspects such as sensor fusion, radio frequency interference (RFI) countermeasures, and combinations of GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite Systems) with other PNT sources. The insights gained from these tests contribute directly to enhancing the robustness and reliability of PNT systems worldwide. 

 Importance and Impact 
This year marks the fourth consecutive Jammertest held on Andøya, an event that continues to draw significant attention from the PNT industry. Stakeholders across industry, government, and academia recognize the critical need for testing to address today’s evolving threats. 

The 2025 edition of Jammertest, scheduled for September, has attracted record interest, with over 150 organizations from 24 countries applying to participate. The test has limited capacity and invited organizations has been selected based on considerations of Norwegian national interest. We encourage those who were not selected this year to apply again for future events.  

The organizers of Jammertest, in collaboration with The Nordic Institute of Navigation, invite you to a seminar where previous participants will share experiences and results from Jammertest 2024. Attendees will also learn more about the test scenarios planned for Jammertest 2025.

Participant fee

This year, we are introducing a participant fee to help us reinvest in the event. The funds collected will be used to purchase new equipment and update the content, ensuring a high-quality experience for all attendees. This initiative is part of our commitment to continuously improve and innovate, and we appreciate your understanding and support.

The participant fee is 1000 EUR per participant, while for academia, the fee is 100 EUR.

So we have finally reached the end of Jammertest 2024, and what an amazing week it has been. While we are humbled by all the kind words and wonderful feedback we, the organizers, have received from you. The real heroes of Jammertest is all of you. The warmth, the camaraderie, the willingness to share experience and knowledge is truly inspiring. While I do believe that Jammertest is a truly unique event and experience, it is not the effort of us organizers that makes it so. It is the wonderful people joining us up here, at the edge of the world, year after year.

Now over to the safety brief:
- Wear high visibility clothing when you are working near vehicles.
- Never operate a vehicle under the influence.
- Stay hydrated. (maybe try something other than coffee once in a while)
- Call you your mother!

We will be sending out a questionnaire to you all that we would greatly appreciate if you took the time to fill out.
